In 1974, Fred Bird created and established his own high quality photographic studio in Toronto, Ontario. He has produced numerous award winning photographic illustrations for national advertising agencies, food corporations, public relation firms, government agencies, magazines and graphic designers, both in the studio and on location.

Fred is best known as one of Canada's top food photographers, most particularly for his monthly featured photographs in Canadian Living Magazine from 1975 to 1995. Since 1980 his highly acclaimed food photography has appeared in more than thirty-five cookbooks that have become, and continue to be, best sellers.

Although food photography became the major focus of Fred's career, he still enjoyed a variety of assignments that included people, fashion, architecture, natural resources, automobiles and fine jewelry.

Fred moved his family and state-of-the-art studio to Salmon Arm, British Columbia in September, 1994 to pursue a growing interest in the more relaxed, west coast lifestyle. The beautiful Shuswap area provides the perfect setting for Fred to combine his love of video production and photography, with his growing interest in environment issues.

Some other corporate clients Fred Bird & Associates has had the pleasure of working with are:
Time Magazine, Kraft Foods, Kellogg's, Thomas J. Lipton, Nabisco Brands, Molson Breweries, Nestle Canada, DeBeers Diamonds, Canadian Federation of Chefs, Canadian Living Magazine, Chatelaine Magazine, Bank of Montreal, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, Antigua Tourist Board, Fiesta Tours and Economic Development Corporation of Salmon Arm.
